Purse Frames Workshop
With only six participants in the class, you will get loads of special attention as you learn techniques and tips to successfully make a purse with a frame. At the end of the day, you'll go home with a finished purse! Kit and refreshments provided
DATE: Saturday 1st September 2012
TIME:10am - 3pm
WHERE?: 3/99 Helen St Northcote - right between Northcote railway station and a High St tram stop, and very close to a car park.

A few notes:
You have the choice of making a coin, make-up purse or clutch size purse. You will be provided with a kit of materials. Glue and tools for attaching the frame will be available for your use.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
Bring your own fabric:
Bring fabric for the outside and for the lining of your purse - about a 20cm length (115cm width) of each or 2 fat quarters. Use a light to medium-weight, woven fabric - patchwork cottons are ideal.
*Don't use knit, pile (ie velvet, towelling etc) or stretch fabrics, or fabrics heavier than a light corduroy.
*Use a light cotton fabric for your lining, not a slippery synthetic one.
This will make it as easy as possible to focus on the methods involved, rather than worrying about the particular quirks of a difficult fabric. As your skills improve, you can move on to more challenging materials.
Remember to ALSO bring -
Snacks, sandwiches etc for lunch. There is a microwave, oven, toaster and sandwich toaster available for your use if you prefer a hot lunch.
Thread to match your fabrics
Hand-sewing needles
Pins
Fabric scissors
Paper scissors.
A Tailors chalk pencil, a pencil or biro, or an air-soluble marker (if you have one).
You can bring your own sewing machine or borrow one of mine (leave a message with your booking if you need to borrow a machine).
Please make sure that your sewing machine is in working order. Bring spare needles and spare bobbins for your machine, and thread to match your fabric and lining
I look forward to seeing you there!
Nikki
