With this pattern you will learn how to

  • Make neat and professional-looking straps

  • Make and insert your own piping
  • Pipe the curved edge of a bag flap
  • Attach an o-ring detail to a bag flap
  • Stabilise the base of a curved gusset

Design Variations

This Carry All is made
in fabric from the
"Mod" range by
Timeless Treasures.

It has a single shoulder strap and
a flap all featuring 52mm
Antique Brass flat o-rings.
It also has a tie belt and belt loops
and closes with a magnetic snap.
The flap has a bias binding edge in co-ordinating fabric.

The fabric is interfaced with medium-heavy interfacing and light fusible wadding. 
Fast2Fuse supports the base of the bag.

This chocolate brown pinwale corduroy
bag features an exterior pocket in
fabric from the "Flutter-by" range by Tula Pink for Moda.

A loop buckle closure closes the top of the bag and the exterior pocket.
There is also a zippered closure
in the top of the bag.
It has two shoulder straps featuring 50mm Antique Brass oblong rings.

The fabric is interfaced with medium-light interfacing and light fusible wadding and Fast2Fuse supports the base of the bag.
The lining has medium-light interfacing and the bag contains a divider pocket with medium-heavy interfacing.

Japanese floral print is
teamed with brown cotton
drill to make a simple
version of the Carry-All.

It features a tie belt and two
shoulder straps with
medium-light o-rings.
It closes with a magnetic snap.

The fabric is interfaced with a
combination of medium-light and
medium-heavy interfacing and light fusible wadding and Vilene
S520 supports the base of the bag.
This red duck-cloth bag has a
feature pocket with a panel of machine-quilted floral fabric
(from the "Utopia" range by Freespirit).
The edge of the pocket
is bound with bias tape.

The single shoulder strap has 62mm curved oblong rings and
the front pocket closes with a sew-in magnet.
The bag closes with a zip.

This bag has a lot of structure -
the fabric is interfaced with
medium-light interfacing and light fusible wadding. 
Vilene S520 supports the
base of the bag.
The lining has medium-light interfacing
and the bag contains a divider
pocket with Fast2Fuse.

a classic-looking
Carry-All bag.

It has a single shoulder strap and
a flap all featuring 52mm Antique Brass flat o-rings.
The flap is "bagged out" (stitched and turned) so has no binding or piping.
The bag closes with a
zippered gusset.

This already-structured
fabric is interfaced with
medium-light interfacing to
add a little more support.
Vilene S520 supports the
base of the bag.

 Charcoal brushed cotton
makes a super-soft
version of the bag.

It has two shoulder straps with
medium-light o-rings and a feature flap with black bias binding and
a 52mm flat o-ring detail.
It closes with a magnetic catch.

The fabric is medium-weight,
so has a medium-light interfacing to add a little bit of support
without making it too stiff.
Vilene S520 supports the base
of the bag.
