Design Variations

A burst of summer colour - a wide brim hat in quilting cotton fabric.

Medium-heavy interfacing is used to create structure in the fabric.

This blue duckcloth hat has a shady medium-width downturned brim and hand-embroidered detail.

It has medium-light interfacing in the crown and a combination of medium-light and medium-heavy interfacing in the brim.

This blue corduroy hat has a narrow upturned brim and band with a buckle.

Medium-light interfacing is used to add body to the fabric.

This downturned brim is the "second from widest" brim width on the pattern.

The brim is "second from widest" on the pattern and has three layers of medium-light interfacing. The crown has a single layer of medium-light interfacing.

This "lampshade" style hat has a downturned brim - shortened at the back - with a straight grain binding.

These bucket hats are all made with light cotton drill. The narrow brim is turned downward and topstitched to keep it flat. The hat at far left is made with two fabrics stitched together to make the sideband. The other two hats have applique' details.
