This new pattern combines a simple shape with the fine finishing techniques of a designer bag. It’ll take budding bag-maker’s sewing skills to the next level, and the result is a great bag to impress friends, family and passers-by!

*The zip closure and structured base require intermediate sewing skills, but the rest of the bag is BASIC level. (If you're not sure, keep it simple for the first bag, and then MOVE ON..YOU CAN DO IT!)

MATERIALS LIST - What you will need

Duckcloth (soft, light canvas) beach tote with overlaid straps and compartment pockets. The bag has a structured base with Purse Feet, and it closes with a zipper.

This bag has medium-light interfacing throughout, and there is template plastic, Vilene S520 and purse feet in the base.

Two-tone cotton drill bag with a drawstring tie and embroidered compartment pockets. The bag has a single shoulder strap with large o-rings and a structured base with purse feet. It closes with a large magnetic snap.

This bag has medium-light interfacing throughout, and there is template plastic, Vilene S520 and purse feet in the base.

Orange duckcloth is teamed with printed (quilting cotton) compartment pockets. The narrow overlaid straps have square rings and eyelets. The base is structured, and has purse feet, and the bag closes with two large magnetic snaps.

This bag has medium-light interfacing throughout, and there is template plastic, Vilene S520 and purse feet in the base.

Floral print fabric bag with striped contrast. There are belt loops and a tie to draw in the top of the bag. Two shoulder straps are joined to the bag with large o-rings.

Medium-heavy interfacing is used throughout the bag, and there is template plastic and Vilene S520 in the structured base.

Lime green duckcloth has hand-embroidered detail.The single shoulder strap has large O-rings. The bag closes with a zipper, and also has a snap hook and o-ring closure at the front of the bag.

The fabric has medium-light interfacing on it, and there is template plastic and Vilene S520 in the structured base.

Light upholstery-weight canvas is used for this beach tote. Straps are overlaid on compartment and patch pockets. The bag closes with two magnetic snaps.

The fabric is left without interfacing (except for the FACING on the inside of the bag), and the base is left unstructured.

The Beach bag can be made with or without a structured base and purse feet.

The DETAILED, ILLUSTRATED INSTRUCTIONS also include overlaid straps, bag rings, a zippered closure, belt loops and zipped, patch and compartment pockets as optional extras with this design.

Blue brushed cotton drill bag with silver grommets and a drawstring tie (which matches the lining of the bag). The bag has compartment and patch pockets on the outside and a single shoulder strap with large o-rings.
