Sling with variations

Pattern No. BO3058 - $19.95

The Sling can be soft and unstructured, or smart and sharp, depending on your fabric choice. It has long straps which can be made to be long, short or adjustable.

You will learn how to successfully fit a large facing to a curved bag shape, and make a clean. crisp edge on the curve at the top of the bag. You will also learn how to stabilise the wide base of the bag, and how to vary the zip pocket style.

MATERIALS LIST - What you will need

This Sling Bag is made with printed cotton drill, with applique and machine embroidery embelishment.

It also has a base gusset and purse feet. See TIPS AND TUTORIALS for instructions on using VILENE S520 to make a bag base.

A light floral cotton version has been embellished with handmade fabric roses.

The straps are simply tied together at the top.

This bag is made using medium-light interfacing. It is a softly structured bag.
The base is made with Template Plastic.

A large o-ring is added to the strap (you could also make it with a ring added on BOTH sides!)

This bag is made using medium-heavy interfacing to give structure to the light cotton fabric.
The base is made with Fast2Fuse.

Vary the strap length by changing the placement of the buttons.

Buttons can be functional (with buttonholes) or decorative (just sew the straps together and sew a button over the top,
